How to Clean and Care for Custom Window Coverings

Wednesday, May 7 2014 8:37 AM

First and foremost, regular dusting and vacuuming of window coverings (every six months) will help to keep them dust free. It will also help your window treatments last longer, look fresher and maintain a like-new appearance for most blinds, shades, drapes, sheers and top treatments.

Vacuum window treatments with a brush attachment so you don't harm the fabric.

Compressed air or hair dryers on the non-heat setting can be used to blow dust off window coverings.

First, find out the fabric content. Some fabrics can be spot treated if they are lightly soiled.

Some fabrics, like sheers that are 100% polyester, can be hand laundered. Be sure and have your window covering provider go over the process of cleaning your sheers and window treatments.
