Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much do custom window treatments cost?

Pricing depends on the product, window size, fabric, and whether you go with a ready-made or fully custom option. We provide a free, no-obligation estimate that breaks down materials, labor, and installation so you know the full cost before anything starts.

  • Do you offer free in-home consultations?

Yes. Every project starts with a consultation. One of our designers meet with you in our showroom or visit your home, look at your windows, discuss what you are going for, and show you product and fabric samples right there in your space. There is no obligation, and you will receive a written estimate before any work begins.

  • What is the difference between blinds, shades, and shutters?

Blinds have individual slats that tilt to control light. Shades are made from continuous fabric that rolls, folds, or pleats, like roller shades, cellular shades, and Roman shades. Shutters are solid panels with louvers that mount directly to the window frame. Each option has different strengths for light control, insulation, and style. Our designers can help you figure out which makes the most sense for each room.

  • How long does a custom drapery project take?

Most custom drapery and Hunter Douglas projects take several weeks from consultation to installation, depending on fabric availability and project complexity. We will give you a clear timeline during your consultation, so you know what to expect.

  • What brands do you carry?

We are an authorized Hunter Douglas Gallery dealer, which means we carry the full product line. For custom drapery and soft furnishings, we work with a wide selection of fabric suppliers and can source materials to match virtually any style or budget.

  • Can I visit your workroom?

Our workroom has an open-door policy, and we encourage clients to stop by at any point during their project.

  • Do you install motorized blinds and shades?

Yes. Our installer is trained and Hunter Douglas certified to program and install custom window treatments and PowerView® Automation motorized shades. Motorized window treatments can be controlled from your phone, tablet, voice assistant, or on a daily schedule. They are especially useful for hard-to-reach windows and skylights.

  • Should I choose inside mount or outside mount for my blinds?

It depends on your window frame depth, the look you want, and whether you need maximum light blockage. Inside mount gives a clean, built-in appearance when the frame is deep enough. Outside mount covers the full window opening and works better for shallow frames or when you want to make windows appear larger. We have a detailed guide on our blog that walks through the decision step by step.
